Mrs Elisveta Foxcroft,born kandyba, left russia with her mother as a child after the russian revolution, they lived in Bulgaria, Farnce and in1928 she went to England, first to St. Swithus school, Winchesters and after to Somerville college, Oxford where she obtained an honours degree in modern languages in 1934 and an M.A. in 1946.
